Little Envelopes

When I was young, I was given a bank passbook, but a school friend told me that her mother saved money for various needs (rent, food, medicines, car repair) and pleasures (vacation, summer clothes) in separate little envelopes. I loved the idea and adopted it -- and to this date, I still maintain the budget for my business in separate little sections of my business spreadsheet, and I call them my "little envelopes."
